Esurance’s advertisement aired on yesterday’s Super Bowl game and viewers jumped at the chance to win the $250,000 prize. The company gained more than 9,000 retweets per minute throughout the day. Since the company did not require participants to be one of their insureds, there was no law preventing the contest.
Independent insurance agents can learn from this use of social media, and money doesn’t even have to be a part of it as not many agents have money in the bank for contests. Sharing information on social media is a great way to let the community know you are ready to help.
Take a photo of you and your employees helping at a local charity or volunteering for a local non-profit and ask your friends and family to tweet or post away. You can also volunteer your office as a drop-off center for food and clothing donations that you can then donate to your community.
Participants of “The Esurance Pass It On Sweepstakes” were required to retweet the #EsuranceSweepstakes message for a chance to win the big prize. The contest winner will be chosen on February 9, 2016. The Super Bowl ad commercials cost upwards of $5 million for a thirty second spot at the 50th anniversary game.
